Welcome Back Sports

I have missed sports, and now that they are coming back, let me tell you a few of the reasons why I was so sad that they have been gone these past few months. Sports mean a lot to me so there are many reasons that I have missed them. First, I missed competing with my teammates. I enjoy trying to prove something out on the field and working together with my teammates. I have also missed sports on TV. The excitement of cheering for my favorite team is something that I enjoy. I love talking with my friends about a big game or writing about it on here. I’m excited to get back the excitement of a win and even the pain of a loss. We started some outdoor soccer practices recently and I loved the proud feeling after a hard practice. The tired feeling after a practice or a run is a proud feeling of an accomplishment- even though your body is tired and broken down. I also miss the life lessons that you learn playing and watching sports. Lessons like hard work, commitment and even how to control your temper. 🙂

Sports mean a lot of things to me! Things like: fun, hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and many other life lessons. One of the main reasons you would play a sport is to have fun, and I love playing, talking about and writing about sports. I just absolutely think it is the best and that sports are so fun. I enjoy the work you have to put in too like the early mornings and going to practice even when I’m tired and I don’t want to. I like the commitment in sports too. I would never let a teammate down. I have made so many great friends through sports and I know they would never let me down. Like those 8 am games that are an hour a way that you get out of bed for because you made a commitment to a team!

I even have little personal expieriences that have made me miss sports even more. Like making it to the state cup semifinals; even though we lost that game that run in that tournament was really fun and something I’ll never forget. Even just broader thinngs like fooling around after practice. I don’t want sports to ever go away again.

  4. Well first and foremost. I am proud of you and how you have figured already that sports is way more than the score! Although that’s important lol. I miss sports too. Luckily I have had your blog to help me through this. Your recruiting blogs have been awesome but I must admit I’m ready for you to start being able to blog about real games. I think you should include a segment about your own games too. Keep up the great work and Happy Birthday!!!

  8. Bryce-
First, Happy Birthday! Time flies crazy fast… 3 more years and you’ll be driving yourself to all those sports practices! Second, I would be remiss not to tell you that you are a very good writer. Your blog writing skills are great!
I’ve always wanted to start a blog of my own. Maybe I’ll jump on that train this summer. 🙂
Our house is really crossing our fingers for some MSU football this fall. The season just isn’t complete without football on Saturdays. I like how you highlight the life lessons that sports teach. It’s so much more than the win, isn’t it? Best feeling in the world is getting that practice, run or workout in- commit, embrace and persevere through the discomfort. Every loss or failure contributes to growth. Keep up your dedication to sports and your blog!

  9. I too miss sports so much, but I have learned to appreciate my time away with family more than ever. Besides my great family moments, sports has given me so many life lessons, which you are already figuring out! My passion for sports has also given me every other amazing experience in my life to play and coach all over this country & travel the world. I look forward to the return of sports, especially the best sport, Michigan Soccer (Futbol)–BUT I may be a little biased! haha Keep training hard and enjoying your sports! Look forward to seeing you soon Bryce! Happy Birthday and GO BLUE!

  11. Love the post!! Though I’m not the most athletic in our family, I miss sports too, and hope they all come back ASAP. Question for you…do you miss ALL sports?! Like even….VILLANOVA SPORTS? I can’t actually hear your response through this post, so I’m just going to assume you do. I’m guessing you are answering like this: “Hi my name is Bryce, and although I like to pretend I’m a Michigan fan, I actually love Villanova the best. Jay Wright rocks!!!”

Love ya bud, can’t wait to see you soon. Happy birthday!!

Great post, my man. Funny how sometimes we take things for granted and don’t realize how much they mean to us until we do not have them anymore.

I really enjoyed reading about all the things that you take away from being an athlete as well as a fan.

Work hard, play hard, root hard for your teams!

  36. Excellent post, topic and writing Bryce! Like you, sports have always been an integral part of my life. It has been a great pleasure watching you compete over the years…I definitely miss that you and Johnny are no longer on the same soccer team. You are a fierce competitor, you work hard and are a phenomenal teammate and friend! While I’ve enjoyed the pause in sports over the last few months, I certainly cannot imagine life without them!

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays! HAPPY 13!!

On a side note, happy birthday to you! Can’t wait to celebrate with you at the lake. We’ll have to get some popcorn shrimp and cheesy bread on me!

The great friendships you make, the big life lessons you learn, and the pride you feel giving your best effort. Your article reminded me of some great memories paying sports when I was younger – and why I still love running now. Do you think spirts can even help Sam with her temper? Wishing you a very happy birthday! Love you buddy!

  42. What a great post! You highlighted so many great things about sports – the friendships you make, the big life lessons you learn, and the pride you feel giving your best effort. I also feel a lot of pride cheering for University of Michigan sports. The victors. The leaders. The best. Pretty sure they don’t use those words to describe Villanova or Notre Dame. Rivalries and competition are another thing that is fun about sports! Love ya buddy and wishing you a very happy birthday!
